Serving the Lord in Ephesus & Malaysia

It was such an honor to have received invitations to join two gatherings of world leaders who are working to provide seminary classes and non-formal training to church leaders around the world. Most pastors and senior church leaders have no access to Christian theological education and training. Laurie and I recently returned from a trip to Turkey where we met with 500 people from over 80 countries for a week of developing best practices for equipping the worldwide church. The World Evangelical Alliance published an article about it here. And we’ve posted a short recap video below. (Laurie & I are in it, but you have to look fast!)

I just returned from Malaysia where we were building collaborative projects and partnerships to provide support, resources, advice, and training for the lord’s church in Asia. Additionally, I learned that you can reach right out and touch the ancient ruins of Ephesus – and that you should NOT reach right out and touch the local monkeys in Malaysia…who are not as cute and cuddly as they look!

By the grace of God some of the event centers that provide affordable access for people on mission around the globe just happen to be in beautiful places during the “off season.” We were a 10-minute drive from the ancient city of Ephesus (featured in the picture above) and now the Scriptures come alive for us after seeing this amazing part of the world. Much of the New Testament was written in this area. Malaysia during monsoon season is beautiful and worshipping with servant-leaders from all over Asia is inspiring! I enjoyed listening to huge thunderstorms and eating squid!
