Investing in Pastors in Kakamega

Kenyan Pastors & Denominational Leaders: Eager to Learn

When we received an invitation to train pastors, church, and denominational leaders in an African town less than 20 miles from the equator and roughly 30 miles from Lake Victoria we were eager to accept!  We were even more pleased when we arrived in Kakamega and met these amazing people!  Our hearts were encouraged when we saw their desire to grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures.  These Kenyan leaders were eager for training on what the Bible says about the roles of leaders in the church.

Then came the surprise!

After 45 minutes of training our host stepped to my side at the podium and asked the leaders if they had questions.  We were overwhelmed with the response!  Hands went up all over the church and these eager learners showed their appreciation for the Scriptures and their love for their people by asking very practical questions. They wanted to enhance their leadership skills and positively influence the lives of the people in their churches. Our host then added extensive Q & A segments to each or our training sessions.

We are so thankful for the people who pray for us during our travels to train church leaders in remote places!  We need it! Answering questions and needing to adjust our content to fit the new schedule on the spot in a cross-cultural setting makes us very aware of our need for help from the Lord! He answered your prayers and helped us think quickly and clearly.

In partnership with Christianbook Outreach International, we sent Africa Study Bibles and had the privilege of distributing them to the leaders. They were so overjoyed to receive study Bibles from an African context to help with their spiritual growth and ministries.

The leaders deeply appreciated their time together, recognizing its importance for their growth and collaboration. Influential denominational leaders expressed their gratitude for the training we provided, explaining that local pastors need further development on these crucial topics. As a result, the key leaders of this conference have invited us to return for additional training sessions. It would be a privilege to continue supporting this region in their ongoing Biblical and ministry education.

Our hearts were encouraged by their hospitality and eager hearts and minds for God’s Word and His Church!
