“We’ve Learned So Much!
Please Come Back”
Ugandan Pastors & Church Leaders: Applying What They’ve Learned & Asking for More!
The bulk of our training in Uganda last month was on discipleship and church growth for pastors and church leaders. Several hundred pastors and church leaders from over 40 churches from around the region and from a neighboring country traveled to Namutere Village to receive training. One group walked over 12 miles each of the five days!
We recently spoke with one of the leading pastors from the village and are so encouraged to hear how the churches’ leadership teams are working together to put the concepts they learned into practice in their churches. Each church brought multiple leaders, so they are reminding each other of what they learned and working together to implement steps toward healthy discipleship and church growth.
The committee who hosted us are planning a two-day follow-up gathering in August for the lead pastors. They’ll spend one day on discipleship and one day on church growth. They’ve asked us to develop short videos and questions to refresh the pastors’ memories on the concepts we covered and provide guidance on ways they can take steps to deepen their application. Well-trained Ugandan leaders from the capital will travel to the village and facilitate the discussions. And – the committee has asked us to come for another conference in January 2025 to build on what they’ve learned!
Our training incorporated many sessions of discussion and feedback to help the pastors and leaders transfer the concepts to their lives and ministries. Click on the video below to hear pastors sharing some things that they want to remember and apply to their ministries.
